What happens in the last day of SSB Interview?

Day-5 Conference

In simple words, the SSB testing procedure gets finished by the end of Day -4.The only awaited thing is the result which comes on Day-5 or D-Day.

There is a conference room where all the assessors like GTO, Interviewers and Psychologists of different groups as well as Board President meet and discuss about each and every candidate and take a common decision whether to recommend the candidate or not. Then the recommend candidates stays at SSB Centre for next 5 day medical procedure and others (Conferenced out) candidates have to leave SSB Centre. 

 

The recommended  candidates are allotted a (+)sign chest number and then have to stay for next 5 day for medical test.Then after 2-3 months a rank list is declared ,and selected  candidates are sent a joining letter if they are medically fit and in rank list according to vacancies. 

My Experience

After finishing our day -4 testing I was very tired, my body was beating the unending pain as I did a lot of physical work after a long time so after taking lunch, I went to my bed.

After waking up, I went to cafeteria with Tanuj and Utsav and paid the pending bills and as we were hungry so ordered cheese noodles and cold drinks. After this I went to basketball ground and played till late night as this was a great experience after a long time. 

At night we were called for fall in , our CHM said," Failure and success is a part of life. No need to take stress now as the testing procedure has been over, and results have been prepared .Tomorrow I don't want to see any crying faces at all. Best of luck!!".

That words of wisdom motivated us a lot. That night everyone wake up till late night and did gupshup as after this hardly anyone of us was going to meet each other, so this day has to be memorable. In some tasks I had performed extremely well, while average and below average in rest of them so I had mixed and doubtful expectations from the result.

The next day everyone was ready in their best formal pair, everyone was just perfect from head to toe.Then at 0645 hours we went for breakfast. After breakfast, with our CHM we reported at a shed area at 0715 hours near conference room.Candidates were briefed about the rules to enter, and greet officers etc.

The conference started at 0800 hours. Briefing: When the chest number of a candidate displays at a digital screen outside conference room, that candidate has to go inside the room and greet the addressing officer only.

When my turn came, I confidently went inside, a group of smartly dressed officers were sitting in semicircular table. I even didn't get time to count them. Queries about stay, food and experience were asked to me then within 20 seconds I was asked to leave by addressing officer.

After the conference of all candidates got over ,we assembled in M.K. Pandey Hall at 1030 hours, we were handed over Group photo, till the result came ,we were ordered to keep pin drop silence in the hall. After a long wait at 1130 hours, a Colonel ranked officer came with results, everyone had mixed expressions.

He first explained us about the qualities SSB Board is looking within the potential candidates and motivated a lot by giving examples of Amitabh Bachchan , APJ Kalam, Rahul Dravid and Shahrukh Khan, that failed to clear SSB Interview but later achieved great heights in their life.

Then the most awaited moment came the officer said "Chest no.3,16,24 and 25 has got recommended, give it a big round of applause for them guys."They all went to podium and we were clapping for them. Rest of the us were asked to leave the SSB Centre with their luggage's within 15 minutes.

I congratulated chest no.3 & 24 as I had developed a strong bond with them in last 4-5 days. After giving a (+)sign chest number, they were taken for filling of forms. Everyone was a bit shocked with so less number of selections as each group had many potential candidates. We all had little tears in our lives because this is life. Then rest of us left the SSB with a heavy heart. I bid goodbye to Tanuj and Utsav. Till now I have been conferenced out thrice and two times absentee in TECH entry.Currently persuing engineering to look forward for CDSE exam.My will and dedication to join India Army has grown stronger and now I have been observing positive changes in my life after commiting a lot of mistakes in SSB.

LESSONS THAT SSB TAUGHT US-

:-) Life is full of opportunities the only thing that success demands is COMPETENCE.

:-) SSB is a subset of life and even if you are not interested to join armed forces just give it a try you will learn a lot.
